Our Amnicon Hats are made from a double layer of Polartec® wool blend fabrics. Power Wool™ is a 42% wool fabric that has a durable and tight polyester outer face with a thin and soft, wool inner face. Alpha with Wool is a 33% wool fabric that has a light and airy outer polyester face with a soft and fluffy inner wool layer. Alpha with wool is the lighter and thicker of the two fabrics, but note that it also has tufts of wool that stick through the outer fabric and will shed slightly, particularly before washing. Also note, it has a denser weave than Alpha Direct.
Note that you can choose between our fixed or rolled bands. The fixed band is sewn in place and is just two layers thick. This is the better choice for a hat to go under a helmet, or for those who like the look of a slim band over the ears - it cannot be adjusted. Alternatively, the rolled band is four layers thick and adjustable. This is the better option if you like more warmth over the ears, like to change the depth of the hat, or like the look of a thicker band.
