Our Amnicon hats are made from a double layer of Polartec® wool blend fabrics. While most blended fabrics combine polyester and wool within the same thread, Polartec® wool-blends utilize a bi-component knit that places separate wool and polyester threads where they can be most effective. The result is a wool fabric with a durable polyester outer layer and a soft merino inner layer. This unique integration of polyester and wool allows us to make a best-of-both-worlds garment that is warm, light, durable and resists odors.
Power Wool™ is a 42% wool fabric that has a durable and tightly woven polyester outer face, with a thin and soft, gridded inner wool face. Alpha with Wool is a 33% wool fabric that has a light and airy outer polyester face, with a soft and fuzzy inner wool layer. Alpha with wool is the lighter, loftier, and airier of the two fabrics, but note that it has tufts of wool that stick though the outer weave and will shed slightly.
