Our Brule Hats are made from Polartec® Alpha Direct® fleece. This ultralight material offers exceptional loft and insulation under a shell. We use two layers of this material to make a hat that is ultralight, warm under a hooded shell, and quite breathable on it own. They are great for cool weather backpacking or winter athletics. We have three different weights of Alpha Direct® fleece (60, 90 and 120 grams per square meter) which covers the spectrum of weight and warmth.
Note that you can choose between our fixed or rolled band options. The fixed band is made by folding up the inner layer and sewing it to the upper shell - making a band that is 2 layers thick. This is the better choice for a hat to go under a helmet, or for those who like the look of a slim band over the ears. Alternatively, the rolled band is an unfixed fold of both the inside and outside layers and is therefore 4 layers thick. This is the better option if you like more warmth over the ears, like to change the depth of the hat, or like the look of a thicker band. Also note that the 60 and 90 gsm Alpha Direct tends to shrink slightly and the rolled band will better accommodate this change.
