Our Amnicon hoodies are made from Polartec® wool blend fabrics. While most blended fabrics combine polyester and wool within the same thread, Polartec® wool-blends utilizes a bi-component knit that places separate wool and polyester threads where they can be most effective. The result is a wool fabric with a stretchy and durable polyester outer layer and a soft and fuzzy merino wool inner layer. This unique integration of polyester and wool allows us to make a best-of-both-worlds garment that is warm, light, durable, feels great against the skin, and resists odors.
Power Wool™ is a 42% wool fabric that has a durable and tight polyester outer face with a thin and soft, wool inner face. Alpha with Wool is a 33% wool fabric that has a light and airy outer polyester face with a soft and fluffy inner wool layer. Alpha with wool is the lighter and thicker of the two fabrics, but note that it also has tufts of wool that stick through the outer fabric and will shed slightly, particularly before washing. Also note, it has a denser weave than Alpha Direct.
